Multitasking.
Multitasking. Research shows it truly can't be done. But solopreneurs try it everyday. Is we doing ourselves any favors? This article will help you figure out your best answer and offer a few solutions to better productivity...
Multitasking and solopreneurs seem to go hand-in-hand. Should it be that way?
Working smarter (not harder) is something that every business professional concerns themselves with, out of necessity. The more you can get done with a small number of resources, in a set amount of time, the greater the odds are that you will thrive professionally, and surge ahead of your competition.
There are a plethora of methods out there with the goal of enhancing efficiency. But, first and foremost, there are certain questions you need to ask yourself when it comes to figuring out the best ways to boost productivity in your business.
Here are three questions solopreneurs should ask themselves when it comes to multitasking.
Are you trying to get too many things done at the same time? Are you multitasking well?
Time is our most valuable resource because it’s the one resource you can’t stockpile. Everyone has the same amount of time in any given day.
For many entrepreneurs, there is an understandable drive and temptation to do an incredible number of different things at once, in order to increase the odds of success. This might include trying to simultaneously run five different types of marketing campaigns, while overhauling your website by yourself, et cetera. Sound familiar?
It’s essential you ask yourself the question, “Am I really being successful at multitasking?”
The bottom line is that if you try to do too much you will disperse your energies too widely. In turn, you won’t be able to dedicate enough time to any one thing and see anything thrive.
In other words, it pays to focus.
Are you striking the proper balance between autonomy and outsourcing?
Even if you are a solopreneur, it’s important to realize that you don’t need to do absolutely everything in your business completely on your own.
In fact, one of the key skills that entrepreneurs have to learn sooner or later if they want to be successful, is striking the proper balance between doing everything yourself and strategic delegation.
Sometimes, it will be worth outsourcing tasks and aspects of your business to third parties such as an rpa automation company. Not only will this mean that the task in question will probably get done more skillfully (assuming it’s not your area of expertise), but you will also free up a lot of your time to spend on actually developing your business.
Are you paying proper attention to your health, energy levels, and overall well-being?
When all is said and done, your trend toward efficiency is going to be dramatically impacted by your energy levels. Even your overall state of well-being.
Ambitious people often burn themselves out through neglect of proper work-life balance, and especially through neglect of their own health and wellness.
Make sure that you are:
- Eating properly
- Getting as much sleep as you can
- Engaging in regular exercise
And looking for places for improvement along the way to the best of your ability.
