Mike Klein, Changing the Terms
The client was a leader in the communications field – most specifically, Internal Communications. He is a sought-after speaker and trainer and was growing a community of communications leaders, #WeLeadComms.
While his following was considerable, his efforts were not reaching ideal potential customers and he needed to increase exposure for his training courses and growing community to attract potential sponsors and stakeholders.
Our Solution
We found that the client would need to update his website text to clarify his brand messaging to be more appealing to website visitors. Additionally, he needed to refresh his branding. We connected him with a branding specialist and consulted with him on the most optimal website text to attract new clients and collaborators.
Through a monthly coaching program, we continued consulting to work through solutions for bringing new traffic to his sales pages and signups to his training courses. We also helped him formulate plans to keep his #WeLeadComms audience growing through shifting messaging, using online advertising and hosting live conversation sessions. One of our recommendations was a Media Kit.
To bring more engagement to his social media efforts, we presented the client with graphics templates he could quickly edit and use for the long-term. We recommended a regular E-newsletter out to his contacts to promote his ideas, courses, #WeLeadComms and speaking activities.
How It Performed
The refreshed branding and website received very good feedback from colleagues and clients. The new blog presentation drew new visitors and increased traffic to the website. In the process of coaching, the client decided to put his training course sessions on hold and opted for more live sessions to bring focus to communications conversations and grow awareness within his community.
The ads worked to attract new fans and followers. Together we took #WeLeadComms from 7,000 to 11,000+ in just a few months’ time. The E-newsletter contributed to the audience increase as well. The growth continues at a rapid pace, which keeps him in the limelight within his profession. He now has a waiting list of comms pros waiting their turn for spotlight profiles.
In addition, the stakeholder support has grown for the #WeLeadComms project. The Media Kit was re-named to Sponsor Kit and helped secure multiple sponsors. The client’s courses have now been licensed by a top industry organization, bringing him more influence within his industry.
Testimonial
“Some good news – I’ve been able to generate some excellent traffic from the first two posts I’ve shared from the revamped blog, including some reactions from dormant connections and some from senior in-house folks who had previously been outside of my network.” ~ Mike Klein, Changing The Terms
